Competitions

The Vis Moot is the largest and most prestigious competition in the field of international commercial arbitration in the world. The organizers of the competition are universities (e.g. the University of Vienna), organizations and research institutions (e.g. UNCITRAL) affiliated within the Association for the Organization and Promotion of the Willem C. Vis International Commercial Arbitration Moot.

The Jessup International Law Moot Court Competition is the largest and most prestigious competition of its kind in the world. The organizers of the competition, which dates back to the 1960’s, are the International Law Students Association (ILSA), the International Bar Association and the law firm White & Case.

The ICC International Commercial Mediation Competition is the largest and most prestigious event of its kind in the world. It forms part of an international project called Mediation Week, which together with the annual conference on ADR is an obligatory event in the calendars of professional mediators and representatives of business and law organizations from all round the world.

The Foreign Direct Investment International Arbitration Moot (“FDI Moot”) is the most famous competition of “moot court” type in the field of investment arbitration. Each year approximately 100 teams from all round the world participate in this contest. The FDI Moot is organized since 2008 by the Center for International Legal Studies (CILS) in Salzburg, Suffolk University Law School, Pepperdine University Law School, the German Institute of Arbitration (DIS) and the Centre for European Law at King's College London.
